White Lodge Centre : IT Courses

White Lodge is pleased to offer a variety of IT courses starting in January 2008. These courses are open to physically disabled adults or carers. Due to the rebuilding project on-site at White Lodge, the courses will be held at three different locations in Staines, Egham and Woking. The small class sizes ensure a friendly welcome and we have specialised IT equipment for those who need extra support.

Week beginning 7 January to 17 March 2008.
Half term week beginning 18 February: no classes this week.

Introduction to Word Processing
Monday 10.00am–12.00pm
Starting 7 January 2008

Learn the basics of word processing and be able to produce simple documents. Learn how to change text, copy, paste and spell check. Create, open, save and print documents. No prior knowledge required.
Cost: £35 for 10 weeks

Introduction to Digital Photography
Thursday 10.00am–12.00pm
Starting 10 January 2008

Learn how to change photographs taken with a digital camera including removing red eye, brightening and cropping images. A basic knowledge of keyboard and use of mouse is required.

Introduction to the Internet
Tuesday 1.30pm–3.00pm
Starting 8 January 2008

This course gently introduces students to the internet. It will cover how to look for information, find your way around some websites and take information from a website into another IT programme.
No prior knowledge is necessary but keyboard and mouse skills are desirable.

Introduction to Email
Wednesday 1.30pm–3.30pm
Starting 9 January 2008

Learn how to use an email account to send and receive emails. This course will cover using a password, entering email addresses, writing short emails and printing messages. No prior knowledge is necessary but keyboard and mouse skills are desirable.
Cost: £30 for 10 weeks

Creating Simple Projects Using Clipart
Monday 1.45pm–3.45pm
Starting 7 January 2008

This course covers how to use text with clipart, borders and WordArt to produce documents such as posters and invitations. Basic mouse and keyboard skills are required.

Skills for Life – IT and Literacy
Thursday 1.45pm–3.45pm
Starting 10 January 2008

A beginner's course which will cover basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word, internet and email. It will also help you to improve your spelling and use of English. This course is only for students with less than five GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.
Cost: £20 for 20 weeks
