Volunteering Opportunities Voluntary

At White Lodge we are always pleased to hear from enthusiastic individuals who are able to volunteer their time and skills. Be it driving, admin, community events we would love any help you can give.

All volunteers are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at an enhanced level and mandatory Safeguard Training. Please note: We are unable to accept under 16 year olds working directly with our service users and in some instances the age could be higher. 

 

Kitchen/Cafe Support

We are seeking a volunteer or volunteers, to support the kitchen team in our Rendezvous Cafe. Tasks will include simple food preparation, waiting, clearing tables and washing up. Full food hygiene training is provided.

Times required: - either Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays between 10am - 2pm. 

It's a great opportunity to develop team working, social skills and general work experience whilst supporting the Rendezvous Hub service which supports young people and adults with disabilities.

 

Rendezvous Creative Arts Studio

We are looking for volunteers to help in the Creative Arts Studio in Rendezvous, which involves working on a variety of tasks as well as helping people.

Help is needed between 10am and 1pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Art sessions run from 10.30am to 13.00pm. During these sessions you may be assisting one of our adult members who require 1:1 support with art activities such as painting, mosaic or ceramics or helping with a variety of tasks. After the session ends, you would help to put things away and wash painting equipment. 

Other tasks include mounting displays, sorting supplies of art materials and re-filling glue bottles.

 

Play and Youth Clubs

  • Play & Leisure Activities – we run a number of after school, evening, weekend and holiday activities for young people and are looking for volunteers to help
  • School Summer holidays including Easter, Xmas and half term

Monday to Friday during the holidays and weekend, 9.30am - 4.45pm (Play) and 10.30am - 5.45pm (Youth), not necessarily required to do all days. Tuesday and Thursday evenings term-time, 5.30pm - 9.30pm.

Tasks include: support worker tasks: personal care, play activities including day trips and centre-based enriching activities. To create an enabling environment which creates opportunities for children and young people with neurodiversities and physical disabilities. Full training is provided for volunteers.

 


Play and Youth Clubs Driver

During School Easter and Summer holidays, as well as one Saturday every month during the hours of 9am - 5pm.


Tasks include: To transport children, young people and colleagues on trips. To transport toys and equipment to different locations.
Criteria:

  • You must hold a valid driver’s licence including D1 - As we are a charity, we come under section 19, therefore need to be minimum of 21 years old. Full CB for 2 years, no payment and no medical conditions. (For those who have a D1, it means they have the entitlement to drive for "hire & reward")
  • Minimum of one year’s experience driving passengers

Training opportunities:

  • Midas (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme)
  • Safeguarding and Child protection
  • Emergency first aid at work
  • Manual Handling

 

Support Worker in Rendezvous

Can you spare a day or two?

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable volunteers Monday to Friday. To provide general help to our staff team in supporting adults who have physical disabilities.
Tasks include:  Assisting with a variety of activity sessions such as cookery, discussion groups, art and craft, music, and at times may be asked to run the session for short periods if the staff member is called away.
Ideally, we need people who would be willing to help with personal care and assisting people with their lunch but this is not essential.


18-25's Transition Service ‘Pulse’

We are looking for reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to help support young adults with physical disability, neurological condition and/or learning disability within our new service.
Tasks include:  Helping to facilitate a variety of activities for the young people both on site and out into the community. Ideally, we need people who would be willing to help with personal care and assisting people with their lunch, but this is not essential. Someone who has a D1 driving license who is willing to drive our young people out on community trips would be an added bonus.

 

Support for Equipment Cleaning in Children's Therapy 

We are looking for a volunteer to provide 3 to 4 hours per week to support the children's therapy team in the cleaning and maintenance of therapy equipment provided on short term loan to children within the service.
Tasks include: cleaning a range of children's therapy equipment (including chairs, standing frames and walking aids), inspecting equipment for damage, working with the therapists to ensure equipment remains useable and safe for reissue. Training and support will be provided.

 

Fundraising Events Volunteer

We want to take White Lodge to our community by raising more awareness about who we are, where we are and what we do. To achieve this, we are looking to build a bank of enthusiastic volunteers who can represent White Lodge at local fairs, fetes and other fundraising events.
Tasks include: We will need people to help us set up and run promotional stalls, people to hold a bucket at a collection and also cheer and encourage our brave participants in events like the London Marathon or Ride London Bike ride.
We'll supply the promotional T-shirts and materials but we need manpower to help deliver our presence. We don't expect you to commit to all events but attendance of a handful of events would make such a difference. Once you are on the bank of volunteers, we'll contact you regularly to let you know what events we need help with. It's fun and you don't need to commit regularly.


Ambassador

Have you got what it takes to talk about our work to a group of people? We are looking for impassioned volunteers to join a small bank of public speakers who can visit clubs, organisations and even schools to talk about the work of the White Lodge. You could also help when we are exhibiting promotional stalls at local events as your ability to talk about our work to individuals will be so helpful. Full training will be provided to help you learn our key messages and topical activities. This team will play an important role as look to grow awareness and support in the community. 

 

Can Collectors

Did you know that on average one collection can placed in a local shop of business will accumulate £41 in loose change! We are looking for volunteers to help us increase the amount of collection cans that we have in the community - not only do they raise vital money, but they also help raise an immeasurable amount of awareness. If you can find time to place 10-20 cans in your community and replace and bring the full cans to White Lodge 2 to 3 times a year, then we would love to hear from you.
