Support Workers - Treetops £18,551.52 Full time (additional payments available for antisocial hours, weekend)

Treetops forms part of White Lodge’s short break provisions for disabled children, young people, and their families. It receives excellent feedback from families and professionals and is rated “Good” by Ofsted under the Children Homes Regulations 2015.

Treetops provides short breaks to children who are disabled and/or have sensory difficulties, enabling families to have a break from their caring responsibilities by offering overnight stays and day care. During their short breaks, Treetops offers the children and young people an exciting, safe and fun environment in which the children and young people learn new skills that will enable them to have more life opportunities when they transition into adulthood. These include life skills such as shopping for and cooking their own meals, as well as social and communications skills which we develop by accessing leisure activities within the community.

Treetops is expanding its workforce and are looking for enthusiastic, and flexible workers to join the team and help support some of the most vulnerable young people within Surrey. 

Our young people require empathy, patience, and positive energy to empower them to develop further life and social skills on their journey to adulthood. While there will be challenging times, the reward of seeing these young people develop into young adults with increased life opportunities, is deeply satisfying.

The key function of the role is to work directly with children and young people. It requires a child centred approach, and may involve supporting young people with their personal and intimate care.

This is a challenging and varied role, requiring excellent communication skills and a desire to work in partnership with families and a range of professionals.

To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application form and personal statement will clearly evidence:

  • Experience of working with disabled children and young people
  • A level 3 diploma in Residential child care (NVQ3) or equivalent is highly desirable for this role or you must be willing to work towards this
  • An understanding of the social model of disability including and the importance of inclusion and working with diversity
  • Knowledge and understanding of disability in general and of autism spectrum conditions
  • An understanding of relevant legislation to keep children safe
  • An understanding of partnership working with families and professionals

Please note, recruitment for these positions is ongoing and interview dates can be flexible. Support Worker roles are available all year round on a full time, part time, or bank basis. We can offer flexible employment in some circumstances.
